Dr. Nadav Kashtan

Research interests:

In our lab we are using systems biology approaches to study the ecology and evolution of the most important organisms on our planet – microbes.

We are an interdisciplinary research group aiming at enhancing our understanding of the microbial world. We combine theory, models and simulations with wet lab experiments and analysis of samples from the field.

  • Microbial interactions in the rhizosphere
  • Biological control of plant pathogens
  • Mechanisms of bacterial stress response

Dr. Jonathan Friedman

Research Review

The Friedman Lab studies how microbial communities form, function, and evolve. We focus on relating the genomes of individual microbes to the properties of the multispecies communities they form, and the evolution of individuals within such complex communities. To do so, we combine theoretical modeling and simulations, observations of natural communities, and laboratory experiments in synthetic microbial communities.
